Our London Road, Bath showroom welcomed Iford Manor Kitchen Chef, Matt Briddon, to present his introductory demonstration about the art of Pickling and Fermentation.

The evening event was delivered in collaboration with local business Refillable, Bath to an audience of enthusiastic homesteaders, each interested in finding out how to make the most of vegetables and leftovers.

Matt is the Head Chef at the award-winning Iford Manor Café & Kitchen and was one of the youngest holders of a Michelin Star in his early career at The Heathcote's. His international career spanning over two decades has developed him into a chef with a passion for seasonality, careful sourcing and inventive menus, and a determination to avoid waste and capture the flavour of ingredients while they are at their best. 

 
 

Matt's passion for cooking and a spell on ‘Saturday Morning Kitchen’ meant that the gathered audience was treated to an entertaining mixture of culinary expertise and lively chat.

Tales of his beloved Iford Manor Kitchen, the bacterial biodome he is cultivating in a 'shed', and the challenges of his agreement to make something out of everything grown at Iford Manor were just some of the highlights.

The scents and tastes of Matt's pickle and kimchi demonstrations whet the appetite for the delicious spread of delicacies from the Iford Manor Kitchen that concluded the evening.

In addition to the demonstration and refreshments, guests received a 'Pickling Starter Kit' to take home and try the three recipes demonstrated for themselves.

Matt will return to Hobson's Choice, courtesy of Refillable, Bath, in mid-November to present a demonstration about stuffing. With limited spaces available make sure you purchase your tickets early to secure a space, it is sure to be a fantastic evening!
