PARTITIONS AND ROOM DIVIDERS

'Getting cosy' can be more difficult in a large open-plan room. The walls are too far apart, and lots of distractions are well within your line of sight. But, you don't wish to permanently split up the social space you enjoy with gatherings of family and friends, so what do you do?

Several options are available to break up a larger space, from open shelving and bespoke storage systems to ceiling-height sliding glass doors. Rimadesio, available from Hobson's Choice, create interior solutions finished in glass, metals, wood, ceramics and luxury soft-touch materials.

Each piece is bespoke, made-to-measure for your home and requirements. The sliding panel collection provides different styles, levels of transparency, and tactile experiences. Enabling the homeowner to create completely opaque walls or allow the passage of light whilst creating a division.

Contemporary Wall Panelling

Wall panelling could be the perfect solution for those looking for something different to characterise an interior, away from paint or wallpaper. The Rimadesio Modular system is designed to fully integrate into a property, adjusting for changes in ceiling height, steps and doorways.

The floor-to-ceiling panels can be finished in various materials, from warm wood veneers and decorative ceramics to tactile leather or luxurious fabrics. Shelving, floating desks, ambient lighting and even hidden pocket doors can be seamlessly combined to create a room that is the ultimate in modern design and personal taste.

LIGHTING

Brokis Balloons table lamps

As the nights begin to draw in, our focus will inevitably change to illuminating our homes, creating a welcoming environment to live, socialise and relax. The lighting needs of a property change during the day. For example, cooking requires plenty of overhead light to see clearly, compared to enjoying dinner with friends. More intimate lighting from low-level pendants above would focus the diner's attention – allowing darkness to hide away the sight of dirty pots and pans.

Brokis, a lighting manufacturer using traditional hand-blown glass production methods, creates various pieces that look stunning when switched on or off. The unusual Macaron table lamps and bulbous Balloons (pictured right) or the stylish Knot collection and decorative Night Birds pendants are perfect for creating a warm and inviting ambience.
