The Brief

The large luxury home was the project of a Surrey-based property developer with whom Hobson’s Choice worked for many years. Due to our working relationship, when asked to create a new kitchen for a project, we are able to deliver a space that balances function, style, budget and ‘wow’ factor.

First and foremost the kitchen had to look great, including high-quality appliances and be suited to a family and their lifestyle. We understand to create a kitchen that can help sell a property, there is a requirement to have strong visual elements that catch the eye and indicate quality.

The space revolves around the central island which creates an area for preparation and social interactions with seated guests. The cook is provided with views across the garden through the large bi-fold doors and is within close reach of the sink, refrigeration (under-counter unit) and cooking areas.

Further cold storage is located in furniture units positioned next to the dining table bookending a large wine cooler. The glass-fronted wine cooler provides diners with easy access to a fresh bottle and a visual feature of interest.

By using high gloss and rough-cut oak surfaces the kitchen has a unique, contrasting appearance. The Miele ovens are positioned in tall storage units extended to reach the ceiling space and offer plenty of space for small appliances and food.
