The Brief

Inspired by colour, texture and iconic design, our delightful clients wished to create a new kitchen, and supporting rooms (utility and dog room), that reflected their personal style and lifestyle requirements.

The Design

The choice of finishes was key to achieving the look our clients desired, linking the kitchen to their affinity for nature and their garden. We chose to pair bulthaup b3 structured oak fronts with Ash timber flooring, which runs into the adjacent living space, to bring a touch of the outdoors in.

The couple are keen cooks and entertainers so it was important to create a practical yet social space. The kitchen is open plan to a dining space and snug, so with the use of the BORA cooktop, it meant that from the island, the view onto the rest of the room was not obstructed by an overhead extractor.

Wall Units - The height and position of the wall units were designed to enable the top to be used to display cookery books and decorative items, adding character and personality to the kitchen.

Floating Island - The use of recessed plinths on all four sides of the island and the look of the worktop wrapping around the sides and top create the illusion of lightness whilst offering the practical benefit of being able to stand comfortably around all four sides of the island

bulthaup b3 pocket door - The clients wanted a “wow” factor when entering the kitchen from the hallway. We designed the statement Bulthaup pocket door unit into the most prominent position of the kitchen from this angle to meet this point on their brief.

At the very first meeting we were introduced to Natasha, our designer and project manager and we felt confident straight off that we had made the right decision in choosing Hobson’s Choice.

DETAILS

Utility Room - With a glass door dividing the kitchen and utility room, the clients wanted the two spaces to flow as one.

A roller shutter unit provides hidden space for large objects like a food mixer.

Dog Room - LouLou and Bettie also had their own brief for this project, separate to their owners’. They wanted a room accepting of mud and water with storage for their vast collection of collars and leads.

The standard of work was exceptionally high thanks to the extraordinary attention to detail and skill of Hobson’s Choice fitters Martin, Sam and Ben.

The end result is a truly beautiful kitchen. We cannot recommend Hobson’s Choice highly enough
